Founded by Chouchane Siranossian, Les Racines du Temps is an ensemble flexible in number and very ambitious in it’s musical mission: we offer programs of compositions from the late renaissance up to and including the music of our time and use an instrumentarium and range of performance techniques appropriate to each period. In performing music of the past and present, it is not our purpose to create another early music or modern ensemble, but to communicate with a voice which moves beyond paltry discussions of historical authenticity or modernity and, instead, engage and transmit the essential musical discourse directly—thus effectively removing these often imposed boundaries and returning to the fundamental mission of all artists: the absolute reduction of obscurity in order that the quintessence of a work may be clearly perceived and experienced by the audience.
